Curriculum Management in Achieving Educational Goals Effectively in Two Elementary Schools in the Bekasi Area

Abstract

The curriculum is a key component of the education system, serving as a guideline for implementing learning to effectively achieve educational goals. Good curriculum management encompasses systematic and ongoing planning, organization, implementation, and evaluation. This study aims to analyze and compare curriculum management in two schools in achieving educational goals effectively. The study used a qualitative approach with a comparative descriptive method. The focus of the study included curriculum planning, organization, implementation, and supervision and evaluation. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation with the principal, vice principal for curriculum, and teachers. Data analysis used the Miles and Huberman interactive model, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that SD Al-Wildan 12 Bekasi implemented an integrated international curriculum with bilingual learning, technology use, and strengthening religious values, thus excelling in global competency and foreign language proficiency. Meanwhile, SDN Duren Jaya V implemented an independent curriculum that focused on project-based learning, learning differentiation, and strengthening the character of the Pancasila Student Profile. Supporting factors at SD Al-Wildan include complete facilities and professional teaching staff, while inhibiting factors include high operational costs. At SDN Duren Jaya V, supporting factors include learning flexibility, while inhibiting factors are limited facilities and foreign language integration. This study concluded that both schools have their respective advantages in curriculum management.
