Comparative Analysis of Learning Patterns in Private Elementary Schools and Public Elementary Schools in Batam City

Abstract

Basic education in Indonesia is currently in a transition period with the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum, which demands adaptation of learning patterns in various schools. This study aims to compare the learning patterns implemented at SD Muhammadiyah Plus Batam and SDN 008 Lubuk Baja. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with a comparative study approach, where data is collected through document analysis of comparative instruments. The results showed that SD Muhammadiyah Plus Batam integrates Al-Islam values with a Student-Centered Learning approach and Active Learning models (PjBL, Discovery Learning), supported by comprehensive digital technology facilities. Conversely, SDN 008 Lubuk Baja implements the Merdeka Curriculum focusing on meaningful and differentiated learning, using a combination of cooperative models and lecture methods, while facing challenges such as student learning interest and administrative burdens. The recommendation from this study is the need for collaboration between schools to share good practices in learning innovation, as well as improving teacher training in public schools to optimize active learning models.
