The Influence of the Use of Digital Interactive Media on the Effectiveness of Formative Assessment in Learning for Elementary School Students

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of utilizing digital interactive media on the effectiveness of formative assessment implementation, specifically among upper-grade students (4th, 5th, and 6th grade) at SDS Muhammadiyah Sagulung, Batam City. The research method employed is a literature review using a library research approach, which collects, reviews, and synthesizes secondary data from 10 reliable scientific journals published between 2020 and 2026. The results of the comparative analysis indicate that the integration of digital interactive media such as Quizizz, Wordwall, Kahoot, and Plickers significantly enhances students' active engagement, reduces test anxiety through gamification approaches, and provides real-time feedback for teachers to conduct immediate learning interventions. The sociological characteristics of Batam City as an urban area support the maturity of students' basic digital literacy, although its long-term effectiveness remains determined by the stability of school network infrastructure, gadget-related managerial policies, and teachers' pedagogical-digital competence. In conclusion, digital interactive media is proven to effectively improve the quality and flexibility of formative assessment at the elementary school level.
