Abstract

This study explores and compares the New Student Admissions System (SPMB) at two private Islamic elementary schools in Batam City: SD Muhammadiyah Plus and SDIT Al Farabi. Using a descriptive qualitative approach and comparative study, this study analyzes educational marketing strategies, SPMB management, and factors influencing public interest. The results show significant differences in SPMB strategies and outcomes. SD Muhammadiyah Plus, with its strategic location, A-level accreditation, dual curriculum (National and Cambridge), and competitive fees, was able to fulfill its PSB quota within 1-3 days using a waiting list system. In contrast, SDIT Al Farabi, located in Kampung Melayu, Batu Besar, Nongsa District, with B-level accreditation and a focus on integrating Islamic-National education, implemented a wave-based SPMB system over eight months. These findings provide insights for elementary education institution managers in formulating effective PSB marketing and management strategies tailored to their respective characteristics and target markets.
