Abstract

TPQ Miftahul Huda 3 is a non-formal Islamic educational institution in Midodaren that still relies on traditional learning methods, which are not yet optimal for increasing early childhood interest and understanding of Hijaiyah letters. This study aims to develop and evaluate an Android-based educational game by integrating a Game-Based Learning approach, a child-friendly interface design, as well as features such as audio pronunciation, a point system, and immediate feedback. The contribution of this research lies in the design and evaluation of a Hijaiyah learning prototype that combines interactive multimedia elements and game mechanics into a single medium tailored to the learning needs at the TPQ. This study employs a Research and Development (R&D) method adopting the Multimedia Development Life Cycle (MDLC) model, which includes the stages of Concept, Design, Material Collecting, Assembly, Testing, and Distribution. Built using the Construct 2 engine, the game underwent functional Black Box Testing, material expert validation, media expert review, and direct user response trials. The results show that all application features function as intended, with Black Box Testing achieving a 100% accuracy score. Validation by material experts reached 89.52%, media experts scored 92.82%, and user testing yielded 96.36%. All results fall into the highly feasible category, demonstrating that the game is exceptionally well-suited for use as an educational tool for introducing Hijaiyah letters.
