Abstract

The development of information technology in education encourages schools to optimize activity management systems more effectively and efficiently. One important activity in schools is extracurricular activities, which serve as a forum for developing students' interests, talents, and character. However, the selection and registration process for extracurricular activities at SMKN 1 Talamau is still carried out manually using paper forms, which presents various challenges such as the risk of data loss, slow recording processes, and difficulties in data management and recapitulation. Therefore, a solution is needed in the form of a digital system that can improve the effectiveness of extracurricular activity management at the school. This research aims to develop a web-based extracurricular selection information system at SMKN 1 Talamau. The research method used is Research and Development (R&D) with the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) development model. The development stages included requirements analysis, system design using the Unified Modeling Language (UML), implementation using the PHP, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript programming languages, and system testing through alpha and beta testing. The results showed that the web-based extracurricular selection information system was declared successful in the alpha testing. Furthermore, the beta testing, conducted by expert validation, yielded excellent results with an average score of 89.81%, and the user beta testing yielded an average score of 93.83%, a very good rating. Therefore, the implementation of this system is expected to improve the effectiveness of extracurricular management and support digital transformation in school education management.
