Abstract

This research is motivated by the registration and data collection process for Field Work Practice (PKL) at SMK Negeri 2 Padang, which is still conducted manually, making it ineffective and time-consuming. The main issues identified include student complaints regarding internship placements that do not align with their majors or expertise, as well as teachers' difficulties in managing manual changes to student internship selections. The objective of this study is to design a web-based information system to facilitate students in selecting PKL institutions that match their fields of expertise. The system development method used is the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) with the Waterfall model. The system testing phase was conducted using the Black Box method to ensure that the system's functionality operates as expected. Beta testing results by experts indicated that the system achieved an average score of 91.1%, categorized as "Very Good". The evaluation criteria included content, accuracy, format, ease of use, and timeliness. In conclusion, this web-based PKL institution selection information system is feasible for implementation at SMK Negeri 2 Padang to enhance the efficiency of the school's institution selection process.
