Abstract

Background: Pulmonary tuberculosis patients continue to face significant physical, psychological, social, and economic burdens. Meanwhile, Indonesia’s TB incidence rate among the highest globally according to the WHO indicates that disease control remains suboptimal. Beyond medical issues, low family support and self-efficacy among some patients contribute to reduced quality of life, treatment non-adherence, and an increased risk of complications and drug resistance. Objective: To determine the influence of family support and self-efficacy on the quality of life of pulmonary tuberculosis patients in the Parkit 2 Ward at Bhayangkara Tk. 1 Hospital (Pusdokes Polri). Methods: This study employed a correlational design with a descriptive-associative approach to analyze the relationship between family support, self-efficacy, and the quality of life of pulmonary tuberculosis patients. The population consisted of 148 individuals, with a sample size of 60 respondents. Data were collected using a family support questionnaire (12 items), the TBSES for self-efficacy (21 items), and the KDQOL™ for quality of life (26 items), all of which had undergone validity and reliability testing. Data analysis was performed using SPSS via univariate and bivariate analysis (Chi-Square test). Results: Statistically, there was a significant relationship between family support, self-efficacy, and the quality of life of pulmonary TB patients (p = 0.000). This implies that good family support and high self-efficacy contribute to improving patients' quality of life. These findings demonstrate that psychosocial factors play a crucial role in helping patients achieve a more optimal quality of life while undergoing treatment for pulmonary TB. Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between family support, self-efficacy, and the quality of life of pulmonary TB patients.
