This study aims to analyze the effect of work discipline and workload on employee performance, with work communication as a mediating variable, at Universitas Mohammad Husni Thamrin. This quantitative survey study involved 136 respondents determined through proportionate stratified random sampling. Data were collected using a five-point Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS version 3. The results show that work discipline has a positive and significant effect on employee performance, whereas workload has no significant effect on employee performance. Both work discipline and workload have positive and significant effects on work communication, and work communication has a positive and significant effect on employee performance. Work communication is found to partially mediate the effect of work discipline on employee performance and fully mediate the effect of workload on employee performance. These findings suggest that strengthening work discipline and the effectiveness of work communication are relevant strategies for improving employee performance in higher-education institutions.
