Abstract

The coastal area of Dusun Puntondo, Takalar Regency, is both an ecotourism destination and a major seaweed cultivation center, yet it faces dual pressures from household organic waste and plastic waste from fishery activities. This Community Service (PkM) program aims to introduce three appropriate technologies to members of the Koperasi Produsen INS fishing cooperative: (1) biopore technology for processing kitchen organic waste into compost; (2) small-scale pyrolysis conversion of coastal plastic waste into liquid fuel equivalent to diesel; and (3) digital marketing literacy education via social media. Activities were conducted in a single-day session through socialization, conceptual explanation, and tool demonstration approaches. Results indicate that the biopore demonstration successfully established participants’ understanding of organic waste decomposition into compost. Although the pyrolysis demonstration utilized small-scale equipment, yielding sub-optimal fuel output, it successfully projected the potential for reducing the operational fuel costs of the fishermen’s ketinting boats. The digital literacy session provided an initial introduction to social media marketing as a means of expanding local market access. The primary limitation lies in the small scale of the pyrolysis apparatus, which requires upscaling for more significant and consistent fuel yields.
