Abstract

Noncommunicable diseases remain a major public health issue requiring community-based promotive and preventive strategies. Dyslipidemia is an important metabolic risk factor that requires early detection because of its association with atherosclerosis, coronary heart disease, and stroke. This community service activity aimed to improve community awareness of noncommunicable disease risks through health education and simple lipid profile screening. The activity was conducted on December 8, 2025, in the assisted community area around KPRJ Sehat Medika, Pedurenan Village, Mustikajaya District, Bekasi City. The activity included participant registration, brief risk-factor interviews, lipid profile testing, result explanation, health education, nutrition counseling, and referral recommendations. Data were analyzed descriptively based on total cholesterol, triglyceride, HDL, and LDL results from 20 participants with complete data. The results showed that most participants were female (80%), with a mean age of 44.75±8.49 years. Lipid profile screening showed that 40% of participants had total cholesterol ≥200 mg/dL, 10% had total cholesterol ≥240 mg/dL, 45% had triglycerides ≥150 mg/dL, 55% had low HDL according to sex-specific cut-offs, 20% had LDL ≥130 mg/dL, and 10% had LDL ≥160 mg/dL. These findings indicate that a proportion of residents had abnormal lipid profiles requiring education, regular monitoring, and referral to health facilities. This activity demonstrates that simple blood testing combined with health education can serve as an initial strategy for early detection of noncommunicable disease risks at the community level.
