Abstract

This community service program aims to improve digital literacy and provide a fundamental understanding of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to high school students, the next generation who will play a vital role in national development in the Society 5.0 era. This era is characterized by the integration of advanced technology and human life, thus demanding the readiness of human resources who are not only capable of using technology but also innovating in utilizing it to solve various social and economic problems. The activity methods used in this training include interactive lectures, case studies, hands-on practice using AI-based applications, as well as discussion and question-and-answer sessions to encourage active student participation. The training material includes an introduction to the basic concepts of AI, its application in everyday life, and ethical and social issues arising from the development of this technology. The practice provided focuses on the use of simple AI-based applications relevant to students' needs, such as image processing, speech recognition, and the use of educational chatbots. The results of the activity showed a significant increase in students' understanding of the basic concepts of AI and their motivation to learn more about the technology. Students were able to explain the benefits and challenges of AI, and demonstrated basic skills in using AI applications. Furthermore, this activity fosters critical, creative, and collaborative thinking, essential competencies for facing the challenges of Society 5.0. Continuing similar programs with broader coverage and higher levels of difficulty is highly recommended to help students become more skilled and prepared for the increasingly rapid digital transformation.
