Abstract

Introduction: Sexual violence among adolescents in Indonesia was often invisible, resembling an iceberg phenomenon, where many cases remained unreported due to negative stigma. Victims felt pressured to stay silent, chose not to speak up, or were threatened by their surroundings. Sexual violence encompassed various harmful acts, ranging from verbal requests to rape, and had serious consequences such as depression. The objective of this activity was to provide education on the prevention of sexual violence in schools and to demonstrate methods to prevent it. Methods: The implementation was carried out through an educational program on sexual violence targeted at students, teachers, and school staff. The materials included an introduction to types of sexual violence, its impacts, and how to report incidents. The activity involved counseling sessions, viewing videos about the effects of sexual violence, and providing education on physical, verbal, and psychosocial aspects of sexual violence. The activity was conducted at SMA 62 Jakarta on December 8, 2024. Results: There was a significant difference in knowledge before and after the counseling session, with a p-value of 0.000. The average increase in knowledge after the counseling was -19.565. These results indicated an improvement in knowledge regarding the prevention of sexual violence in schools. Students appeared enthusiastic in answering questions and sharing opinions on how to prevent sexual violence, and they were able to demonstrate ways to resist it. They also correctly answered questions about how to protect themselves from sexual violence. Recommendation: The prevention of sexual violence in schools was a shared responsibility between teachers and students. Education needed to be conducted regularly with the involvement of teachers, students, and parents.
